Why Joe’s Organic Dry Cleaners Does NOT Use PERC

Why Joe’s Organic Dry Cleaners Does NOT Use PERC

At Joe’s Organic Dry Cleaners, we made a clear choice years ago:
no PERC—ever.

PERC (perchloroethylene) was once the industry standard for dry cleaning. It’s effective, but it comes with serious concerns—air quality issues, long-term health risks, and environmental damage. That’s why PERC is now heavily regulated and being phased out across New York and the U.S.

Instead of waiting for regulations to force our hand, we chose to lead.

🌿 What We Use Instead

We specialize in eco-friendly organic dry cleaning and professional wet cleaning, using advanced systems designed to be:

  • Safer for families, children, and pets

  • Gentler on fabrics, colors, and finishes

  • Better for indoor air quality

  • Responsible for our staff and our community

Your clothes come back clean, fresh, and wearable immediately—not wrapped in chemical odors.

👔 Why This Matters to You

Eco-friendly cleaning isn’t just better for the planet—it’s better for your wardrobe.

  • Clothes last longer

  • Colors stay brighter

  • Delicate fabrics keep their shape

  • No harsh chemical smell

This is modern garment care, done the right way.

At Joe’s, “organic” isn’t a buzzword. It’s how we’ve always done business.

The corn for SYSTEMK4, a bio-based dry cleaning solvent, is grown on family-owned farms in the heartland of America, specifically sourced from about 500 farms in Minnesota, where it's then processed into the solvent ingredient (SolvonK4). This sustainable, corn-derived solvent provides a green, non-toxic alternative to traditional petroleum-based cleaning agents.
  • Origin: Family farms in Minnesota.
  • Process: Local corn is used by Green Biologics' Minnesota facility to create the bio-based n-butanol for the solvent.
  • Benefit: Creates a biodegradable, dermatologically safe solvent without compromising cleaning power.

Happy New Year, Westbury! Start 2026 Fresh with Clean Clothes

There’s something about January in Westbury that feels like a deep breath. The decorations come down. The calendar flips. The coffee tastes a little more hopeful. And suddenly, we all feel that quiet urge to reset. Not the dramatic, “new year, new everything” kind of reset — but the practical one. The kind that starts with clean closets, fresh clothes, and fewer “I’ll deal with that later” piles. That’s where starting 2026 fresh with clean clothes really shines. 👕 A New Year Reset (Without the Pressure) You don’t need a brand-new wardrobe to feel refreshed. Sometimes, all it takes is: coats that smell clean again sweaters without last winter’s stains workwear pressed and ready dresses cleaned and properly stored shirts crisp enough to make Mondays easier Clean clothes have a funny way of clearing mental clutter too. One customer told us just before New Year’s: “Once my clothes are done, I feel like the year can actually start.” We get that. ...
